![]() The Home for the HolidaysFor the entire month of December our grand estate will be decorated for The Home for the Holidays, our new annual holiday program. This event will surely become your family’s annual traditional outing as it is we provide the holiday spirit and the never-to-forget ambiance and cheer! The Home for the Holidays will feature a family-friendly theme each year at the museum as well as a winter wonderland of outdoor lighting. The goal is to provide the community with a unique and memorable experience during the holiday season that becomes “the” annual family tradition for those in Central Iowa. This year’s theme, “Gingerbread Grandeur,” will feature custom-designed gingerbread houses created by area architects, bakers and artists to stimulate the imaginations of adults and children of all ages. All gingerbread houses will be enjoyed by the thousands of visitors during the month of December and then auctioned at the conclusion of the program with the proceeds to benefit Salisbury House & Gardens. Gingerbread Grandeur will kick off with our annual "Holly & Ivy Tour" (Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4) where Salisbury House & Gardens, Terrace Hill, The Finkbine Mansion (The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines) and one more historic site team up again to open their doors to holiday visitors for special holiday tours, refreshments and entertainment. Salisbury House & Gardens will be “the” holiday destination for you, your family and friends! If you are interested in designing a gingerbread house, please contact Angela Kolbet, Marketing & Public Program Director, at 515-274-1777 or akolbet@salisburyhouse.org. A big “Thank You” to our sponsors, donors and volunteers for making the 2009 Holiday Program a big success!
