Joseph Stella

Known for his dynamic industrial paintings, Joseph Stella had a close relationship with Salisbury House owner Carl Weeks and completed three painting for him. These commissions are entitled "Apotheosis of the Rose", "Tree of My Life", and "The Birth of Venus". Throughout their friendship Stella and Weeks corresponded often. The letters, manuscripts, and photos are archived in the Salisbury House & Gardens collection.
