Letter from Lord Verulam to Col. Jesses at The palace, Hampton Court, dated December 1st, 1840. The postage stamp used is the 1840 "black penny", the world's first postage stamp, issued by England. Verulam uses his franking signature in addition to the stamp. Newspaper article from May 5th, 1973 regarding the stamp included in the folder. |
