Description |
Portrait of John Ruskin. Attached typed letter addressed to Mr. Birch and dated March 22nd, 1869. It reads "In Newton's absence may I trespass on your friendship by asking leave for my assistant, Mr. Arthur Burgess, to make some notes for me in the vase-room, on the students days?" Believed to be a selection from the Dickens Illustration collection.
