Stella tells Weeks he is working very hard and mentions the two paintings "The Rose" and "Tree of My Life". He states "At present my chief concern- if Art is to reach that elevated anonymous unity of architectural composition, so well attained by the early masters and alas! nowday so badly forgotten-".
