This limited edition was designed by Carl Purington Rollins and was printed at Yale University Press. It is signed by Carl Purington Rollins. With very little illustration, the narrative poem is printed in a classic typeface with blue typographic initials. The title page features a small etching of a winter scene.
This 1930s limited edition copy of John Greenleaf Whittier’s long narrative poem tells the story of a family weathering a winter storm together in an idyllic, rural New England home. Written originally as a gift to his family, the poem was first published in February 1866. On its first day of sale, 7,000 copies were sold.
