Shakespeare on the Lawn is a joint production fundraiser for the Salisbury House & Gardens and Iowa Stage Theatre Company. This outdoor theatre production that occurs each July has become the backbone to the Des Moines community and helps transform contemporary consumption of Shakespeare’s plays.
Double the trouble, double the fun! William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud farce filled with mistaken identities, wild misunderstandings, and chaotic comedy. When two sets of long-lost twins unknowingly find themselves in the same city, madness ensues—complete with wrongful arrests, romantic mix-ups, and plenty of slapstick hilarity. Will the confusion ever be sorted out? Join us for an evening of timeless wit, clever wordplay, and non-stop entertainment in one of Shakespeare’s most outrageous comedies!
The play will be performed atop the English gardens and staged with the majestic backdrop of Salisbury House. Nightly performances begin at 7:30 PM with one 20-minute intermission. Gates open at 6:00 PM for seating.
