Capital & Restoration

Preserving and restoring a historic estate like Salisbury House requires continual investment beyond day-to-day operations. Each year, the Salisbury House Foundation undertakes targeted capital projects focused on restoration and renewal to protect the integrity, safety, and longevity of the house, grounds, and visitor amenities. While these efforts are not always visible to guests, they are essential to keeping the estate safe, accessible, and welcoming.

Capital projects address critical infrastructure needs such as restoration of historic materials, site improvements, accessibility enhancements, and long-term preservation planning. These initiatives go beyond general operations and are funded separately through dedicated gifts restricted for these long-term improvements. Gift can be directed to the general capital project fund or to an active project. Donations can be made on this webpage or by contacting us at contactus@salisburyhouse.org or (515) 274 - 1777.

In 2024, the Foundation launched a multi-year fundraising campaign to renew all paved driving and parking surfaces across the estate. These areas were divided into four zones. This phased approach allows critical infrastructure to be restored thoughtfully while minimizing disruption to visitors and daily operations.
